The term Giclee (literally translated as 'squirt of ink') has become a byword for quality art prints. Here at The Vault we offer a complete service which will take your existing artwork and turn it into a fully archival print on fine art cotton rag paper, suitable for selling as a limited edition print, or simply for your own wall.

Flat artworks up to 18x13 inches can be scanned directly to any specified output size, these scans will then be adjusted to match the original piece, and the resulting file printed as a proof for your approval. If you have larger or deep framed artwork, these will be photographed using a professional copy-stand onto 5x4 sheet transparency which will in turn be scanned and matched to the original piece, again with a proof print.

We pride ourselves on our ability to recreate any original art as a faithful and quality reproduction which is unattainable using conventional photographic printing techniques. A variety of finishes means that whether you require a flat matt paper to reproduce pastels, or a heavily textured paper to emulate watercolours we can always provide you with the most suitable material. Alternatively your scans can be printed onto 100% pure cotton canvas and stretched to match the feel of an original painting. Whatever your requirements, our staff will be happy to guide you through the reproduction process.

photo art

Our photo art printing service is suited to photographers who would like us to grade and size their digital files- or if they would like a print taken from an original print, negative or transparency. Individual files can be adjusted to minimize loss of highlights, retain shadow detail and generally produce the best quality print from the existing information. Negatives and transparencies will be scanned on our professional system, sized and tweaked for maximum detail then processed into photoshop to be sharpened, colour corrected and spotted for any dust. Any specific burning, dodging or additional image manipulation can be performed at this stage subject to requirements and is charged at a rate of 85p/min. Our expert printers are always available to discuss artworking and give an estimate for the time involved. Please note that any scan produced by The Vault for printing purposes is available to purchase at the standard scan rate unless artworking is involved, in which case the altered file will automatically be burnt to disc or archived on our system for the client at no extra charge.
