film processing & digital contact sheets

The Vault uses professional photographic dip and dunk processors for both its E6 and C41 processes. These are constantly monitored throughout the day to ensure that the processes are run within the process control parameters set by Fuji. Our equipment uses a reverse cascade wash system to scavenge residue chemical from your films ensuring the long term stability of your negatives or transparencies. The dip and dunk process by its very nature ensures that your film never comes into contact with rollers thus reducing the possibility of scratch or residue marking. We process all brands of E6 and C41 film including Fuji, Agfa and Kodak.

Processed negs, slide or B&W films which are uncut can still be made into digital contact sheets where required.

Cross processing involves processing transparency film through C41 chemistry. Depending on the type of film used there is an increase in colour saturation and contrast. Kodak EPP is aparticularly good film for producing fairly natural skin tones whilst altering the bias of other colours. Other slide films result in more intense colour shifts.

Contact sheets are made digitally on the Frontier. Uncut films are scanned after processing and can be burned to CD at this stage which some photographers prefer to scanning individual negatives. It can be more economical to scan after processing.
