About The Vault

The Vault was established in 2000 as a pro photo lab servicing the imaging industry- including professional photographers, amateur photographers, students, advertising and design companies. The lab continues to provide a film service with professional C41 'dip and dunk' equipment which is closely monitored with daily tests to ensure the highest quality of film processing. A huge advantage at The Vault are our technicians who have a professional eye for detail. David Lane, the Managing Director has over 35 years experience and Mark Hunter our Senior Technician/ Master Printer has 20 years experience in the photographic industry. We strive to offer a friendly and professional level of service, helping customers find the best solutions at a competitive rate whilst maintaining the highest standards.

Artists around the South East of England have benefited from using the lab as we copy paintings, drawings and any flat artwork onto 5x4 transparency (slide film) with accurate rendition of colour and tone, then the film is scanned to produce high quality digital files. Once test-printed and colour adjusted several times to ensure the closest possible reproduction the artist will have the opportunity to liase with our experienced staff about the final output, when we can produce fully archival copies of an original work either on canvas or fine art cotton-based papers, in small quantities or large limited edition runs. All of our Giclée prints are available with a Certificate of Authenticity on request- signed and dated by ourselves with space to complete edition numbers and artist's information.

Students are welcomed at The Vault and we offer special discounted rates on all of our services, enabling our up and coming local talent to enjoy a lasting relationship with a professional lab, with all the advice and services they may require. We regularly provide fine art prints for graphics work, mounted display boards for fashion & textiles, and both exhibition printing and framing for editorial photography students throughout the year as well as for degree shows. A recent introduction is our loyalty card scheme which allows not only our special rates until graduation, but also an additional year of student discount afterwards. David Lane has been visiting numerous trade shows in recent years including ones in Birmingham, London, Seattle and Las Vegas. We are developing an overview of the digital imaging industry so that we can plan for the next five years. Not just because technology is changing, but how the public are responding to it; whether they are professional image makers or keen amateurs. After visiting Focus on Imaging in Birmingham, David decided to purchase a Photobook machine which has proved highly successful. We are constantly testing new paper, binding materials and cover styles. We have produced numerous Photobooks for clients, particularly wedding photographers and social photographers. There is also a growing demand for Photobooks from students and the general public including one-off personalised books for Birthdays, Anniversaries and Christenings.
